Welcome to MoneyProfesor

MoneyProfesor is a new piece of financial software written using Microsoft's .NET technology. It is designed to make it very easy to plan the future value of loans, savings and investments.

Feature Overview

Add single or repeating payments or withdrawals
Specify future changes in Interest rates by drawing a graph freehand
Calculate interest using a variety of common schemes (interest calculated daily, credited monthly etc)
Create multiple 'Scenarios' as part of a Study, and save the Study to disk as an XML file
View in a 'Bank Statement' type layout the payments, interest rate changes and interest calculations and payments. Edit these vaules directly in the statement view.
Extend the Scenario to an arbitrary time in the future to see 'what would happen if...?'

Installation Notes

Are there any prerequisites for installing MoneyProfesor? You need the .NET framework. When installing you must be logged in as an Administrator.

How do I obtain the .NET framework? The simplest way is to visit the Windows Update website at http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com. Any available versions of the .NET framework can be selected from the section below Critical Updates and Service Packs. If you don't see the framework listed here, the most likely explanation is that you already have the latest version.

How do I know whether the .NET framework is already installed on my PC? You can check the Windows Update website as described above, but this may list a new version of the framework when there is already an earlier version installed on your PC. As the framework installer is a large file (~20MB), you may prefer to be sure before downloading it. In this case, we recommend .NET Version Check which is a free lightweight utility that lists all the versions of the framework installed on your PC, together with service pack information and other recommended updates. Download it from http://www.tmgdevelopment.co.uk/versioncheck.zip.

Getting Started

We will shortly be adding a number of 'Typical Scenario' documents to our website. Check the 'Documents' link from our home page for further details.

In the meantime we have provided a simple 'New Scenario' wizard to get you started. You can access it from the File>New>Scenario menu item.
