Cyclope Server Installation Guide

 

Cyclope Server Installation must follow the next steps:

Step 1 Install .Net Framework

Step 2 Install Flash Player Plugin

Step3 Install Cyclope Setup

Step 4 Verify Installation

Step 1 Install .Net Framework

You can check to see if you already have the .NET Framework 1.1 installed by clicking Start on your Windows desktop, selecting Control Panel, and then double-clicking the Add or Remove Programs icon. When that window appears, scroll through the list of applications. If you see Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 listed, the latest version is already installed and you do not need to install it again.

However, with the number of .NET Framework-connected applications on the market growing rapidly, Microsoft does encourage you to install the latest version of the .NET Framework. This is available here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/search.aspx?displaylang=en , Application name: .NET Framework Version 1.1 Redistributable Package. The download file name is dotnetfx.exe, which you must open (run) after the download is completed successfully.

Select Yes button for install Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Package



The setup will extract the neccesary files



You must agree with the License Agreement and press the Install button.



Wait until the setup is installing all components. This operation might take a few minutes.



The installation of .Net Framework is now complete.

Step 2 Install Flash Player Plugin

The Flash Player Plug in is used by Cyclope Server to display statistics and charts. Today most of the machines have this plug in installed but in order to be sure please test your browser on this page. If you can see the chart than your version of Flash Player is up to date. Otherwise you will be redirected to Macromedia web site in order to get the latest version.

Step3 Install Cyclope Setup

This Setup will install Cyclope Server on your machine. Please make sure that the previous steps (Step 1 Install .Net Framework and Step 2 Install Flash Player Plug in) were finished successfully.

Please select the Open option form the File Download Dialog that will appear if you select the Setup link.

Cyclope Setup Wizard will appear and will guide you through the installing process. You must press Next to continue.



Select the Installation Address - the Virtual Directory (default value is Cyclope) and the Port (default value 80 - default www/http port).



Now the installer is configured and by pressing Next Button, Cyclope will be installed on your machine.



The installation process will take a few seconds.



At the end of the installation process Cyclope Server Configuration Dialog will appear. It is extremely important to Test If Port Is Available (by pressing that button from the dialog).



If after pressing the Test If Port Is Available button you will obtain this result:



Then you can Save Changes (by pressing Save Changes button) and the Server Installation Process is Completed.

Step 4 Verify Installation

In order to be sure that Cyclope Server has been successfully installed on your machine you must verify if CyclopeServer service is installed and started. For this please Open the Services Management Console (usually located in Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Services) and verify if there is a service named CyclopeServer and if it is started like in the next sample image. It is important that the Startup Type for CyclopeService is Automatic.



Also please start a browser and type: http://localhost/cyclope/ or http://your_machine_name/cyclope/ and the Cyclope Configuration Pages will be loaded.

The default user name is admin and the password is admin. For security reasons you must change the default password or after you create other User Accounts delete the admin account.
