文献とツール
しっかりした文献がちゃんと存在しています。 オンラインのものと印刷されているものとがそれぞれあります。 即席 DNS 管理者が熟練した DNS 管理者になるためのステップを踏むには、 この中のいくつかを読むことが必要です。印刷された書籍としては、 私が書いたものに The Concise Guide to DNS and BIND (by Nicolai Langfeldt, Que, ISDN 0-7897-2273-9) があります。この本はこの HOWTO と、とても似ています。 多少より詳細に、そしてより幅広い話題をたくさん扱っています。 しかしなんといっても、スタンダードは DNS and BIND (by C. Liu and P. Albitz, O'Reilly & Associates, Sebastopol, CA, ISBN 0-937175-82-X) でしょう。 これも非常にすぐれた本です。 第 3 版は BIND8 と BIND 4 を両方カバーしていますので、 こちらを買いましょう。 同じく O'Reilly の TCP/IP Network Administration (Craig Hunt, ISBN 0-937175-82-X) にも DNS の章があります。 良い DNS (やその他の) 管理者になるためには Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance (Robert M. Prisig :-), ISBN 0688052304) も必須でしょう。他にもまだあるかもしれません。
訳注: オライリーの二冊には訳本もあります。それぞれ DNS & BIND 第3版 (オライリー・ジャパン, ISBN4-900900-91-5)、 TCP/IP ネットワーク管理 (オーム社, ISBN4-900718-01-7) です。
オンラインでは DNS Resources Directory や http://www.isc.org/bind.html でいろいろ見つかります。 FAQ、リファレンスマニュアル (BOG; Bind Operations Guide)、 にも論文やプロトコル定義や DNS の実装ハックもあります。 上記や、以下に示す RFC のほとんどは、bind の配布の中に含まれています。 私はこのあたりをしっかり読んでいませんので、 習熟した DNS 管理者というわけでもありません。 一方 Arnt Gulbrandsen は BOG をすでに読んでおり、 それに夢中になっています :-)。 ニュースグループ comp.protocols.tcp-ip.domains では DNS の議論をしています。 また DNS に関する RFC もたくさん存在しています。 中でも重要なものを以下に挙げておきます。 BCP (Best Current Practice) の番号が付いているものは必読です。
